Teenagers & Adults

Regular eye tests are important in all age groups, including teenagers.  If eye problems are left undetected, it can affect their studies at school or university, playing sports, their job and even their social life.

Teenagers can find choosing glasses difficult, hence we have a wide selection of frames including designer names like Ray-Ban and Oakley.

Contact lenses can also be an option for teenagers, whether they want to wear them full time, occasionally socially, or for sports.

YOUNG ADULTS

Many young adults start with ready-made reading glasses.  Our optometrists don’t recommend these, as most people have a different prescription in each eye, and the correct strength glasses need to be measured before being prescribed.  Also, our dispensing optician will take all the necessary measurements to ensure you are looking thorough the centre of your lens, thus ensuring the best and most comfortable vision.

PREGNANCY

During this very exciting time you can experience occasional blurry vision and even dry eyes.  This is due to the changes your body goes through, which in turn affect your hormone levels.  Our optometrists always recommend an eye test just to be safe, and to check that nothing else has caused these symptoms.  Generally, your vision returns to normal, once you have given birth.

JUST TURNED 40

After the age of 40, your near sight starts to change and you can develop presbyopia, which means you may have difficulty focusing close-up.  If this happens, our optometrist recommends an eye test to establish which prescription is required.

You can now also be prescribed with varifocal contact lenses, which many people enjoy rather than wearing varifocal glasses.

OVER 60

At this change in your life you may have more time to do the things you enjoy, like playing golf, walking and meeting up with friends and family. Your vision will naturally change thorough the ageing process. Having regular eye tests will not only ensure you have the clearest and most comfortable vision possible, but it will also help us detect any eye health and general health problems like:

  • Cataracts
  • Diabetic eye disease
  • Glaucoma
  • Macula degeneration
  • High blood pressure
Catch your eye problems early and prevent disease progression
