Eye protection is crucial for racket sports. Nearly 20% of eye-related injuries occur through racket sports. A squash ball is small enough to fit into your eye socket, and as a result, can cause considerable damage. Just one misdirected shot of the ball, or contact of the racquet with your eye, is all that is required to damage or lose your sight.
It is important for you to wear protective eyewear whilst playing squash and badminton. This is taken seriously by international sporting organisations, for example, eye protection is compulsory for all players in the World Junior Squash Championships.

TENNIS
Hand-eye coordination is vital in tennis. The ideal sports performance lenses will improve contrast, enhancing the colour of the yellow tennis ball and maximising depth perception. This will allow you to see the ball quicker and more easily. Our optometrists also recommend UV protection whilst playing outdoors, due to the excess exposure of UV light which can damage your eyes. Whilst increasing the development of cataract and macular degeneration, high UV exposure can also lead to lesions and tumours on the front surface of your eyes.
- Anti-reflective coatings can be applied to the front or back surface of the lens. This provides you with better clarity of vision
- Oleophobic and Hydrophobic treatment will stop dirt and grease sticking to your lens maintaining distraction-free vision
